ArHIMA is a component state association of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the premier association of health information management (HIM) professionals. AHIMA represents more than 103,000 health information professionals.These HIM professionals are dedicated to the effective management of health information needed to deliver quality healthcare to the public and work in all levels of health care settings, health maintenance organizations, insurance companies, law firms, and information systems companies.
The majority of ArHIMA members are credentialed/certified through AHIMA. There are four colleges/universities in Arkansas that offer formal education in HIM. For more information on those institutions, go to the Education section of this website and click on Schools. However, any individual who is interested in the AHIMA purpose and is willing to abide by the Code of Ethics may join as an active member. You must be a member of the national association (AHIMA) in order to be a member of the component state association (ArHIMA). When you join AHIMA you must set your state designation to Arkansas in order to be a member of ArHIMA. The fee you pay to AHIMA covers your membership into ArHIMA.
