Where do you work and what is your job title?
I am a Systems Analyst III at Arkansas Children’s Hospital

How long have you been a member of ArHIMA?
I have been a member since August of 2013

What certification types have you received or are seeking to receive?
I received my RHIT certification in 2016 and multiple Epic revenue cycle certifications from 2019-present

Which college/university did you attend?
I attended the Associates program in HIM at UAMS, Stephen F Austin State University for a Bachelor of Science degree, and LSU Shreveport for a Masters in Health Admin

What other jobs and/or titles have you held prior to the present one?
Prior to working in IS, I have also been a HIM Systems Analyst and a Medical Billing Analyst Supervisor

What are some of your responsibilities at your current position?
As part of the revenue cycle IS team, we provide support for various operational users around the HIM and billing departments within the Epic system.

What is a typical day like for you?
It is typically about a 60/40% split between current prioritized projects and general break-fix or quality of life improvements to the system for users via service tickets that they submit. A typical day also contains multiple ad hoc and/or scheduled meetings regarding said projects and tickets.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love how dynamic any given day can be, and how I am able to comprehensively use things I have learned professionally and educationally to resolve issues.

What is your favorite food?
All of the Mexican and/or Cajun food!

What’s something about you (a fun fact) not many people know?
I made Nick Saban laugh with a quip at an East Texas high school football game in 2000.

What’s your favorite family tradition?
Gathering with extended family as often as possible

Who had the most influence on you growing up?
I was fortunate to grow up around multiple extended family members, so I’d like to think I picked up a little bit of something from all of them.

What was the first concert you ever attended?
I saw Tool in Houston as a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed high school senior.

What’s something you want to do that you’ve never done before?
I would love to visit the British Isles.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?
I think the most applicable thing I’ve ever heard is “This too shall pass.” Patience is important, and don’t find yourself getting too comfortable with the good times nor too negative with the bad times.

Do you like to cook? If so, what is your favorite thing to cook?
I do enjoy cooking, and tend to stick to some variation of seafood dishes.

If you could get on a plane tonight and travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Anywhere tropical!

Where is one place in Arkansas you would suggest people to visit?
I’ve always enjoyed the uniqueness and charm of Eureka Springs.
