President’s Message

Hello Members,

I hope everyone is staying safe during this pandemic. Many of us have been forced to find different and creative ways to accomplish our work tasks; while others have taken on added responsibilities at our jobs and even in our family life. We are the leaders that can handle the task! HIM professionals are “Agents of Change,” this is what we do, and we are good at it.

I wanted to update you on a few items since we will not meet until the fall. The results of the ballot are as follows:

President-Elect: Tina Cikanek, MBA, RHIA, CCS
Secretary:  Meghan Klein, RHIA
Delegate:  Bryce Miller, MSHI, RHIA
Nominating Committee: Chris Merle, MS, RHIA, CDIP, CCS

Congratulations to you all and thank you to all of the nominees on the ballot!

The 2021 convention is scheduled for the Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock, April 7 through April 9, 2021.   In addition, Lisa Daniels, President-elect and I met with MoHIMA in Branson to tour the Branson Convention Center as the site for the MoHIMA/ArHIMA co-meeting in 2022. Contracts were negotiated and the meeting set for April 4 through April 6, 2022. This is a bit different for us since it starts Monday noon and runs through Wednesday noon, with pre-convention meetings available Monday morning. It is a beautiful facility, with an award-winning restaurant, and just a few steps away from Branson Landing. A shuttle will be available to take visitors to the Branson strip, or other areas.

As of today, we still plan for a September meeting, however, the Board is monitoring this situation closely, as our top priority is the heath and safety of our attendees. The Board will change over as scheduled on July 1, although we will not have an official ceremony until the annual board meeting.

We will update everyone as soon as there is a change in plans. In the meantime, stay safe and stay positive everyone!

Debby
